Naked lust metal alchemist12/3/2023 ![]() A furious Mustang attacks Envy until the homunculus teeters on the brink of death. Homunculus Envy reveals that he killed Mustang’s good friend, Maes Hughes. Late in the series, Mustang almost takes his vengeance too far. She dies by Mustang’s hand because he’s the only character full of passion, anger and his own lust for power. No other character serves as an appropriate foil for Lust. He shoots flames at Lust, burning her over and over until she finally expires. Lust is about to kill her when Mustang appears. Hawkeye drops to her knees in tears, frozen in misery. ![]() In a confrontation between Lust and Hawkeye, Lust incorrectly says that she’s killed Mustang. His passionate side makes its first appearance when he kills Lust. Unlike other characters, Mustang is quick-tempered and vengeful. Hawkeye always stands by Mustang’s side, staring at him with eternal devotion. Though their relationship lacks any physical passion, the pair heads towards commitment. He gave Hawkeye orders to shoot him if he ever steps off the path of righteousness. Mustang trained under Hawkeye’s father and fought alongside her during the war. They’ll stay together, get married, have children.Ī similar relationship occurs between flame alchemist Roy Mustang and his personal assistant slash bodyguard, Riza Hawkeye. He could be gone for months or years but Winry doesn’t mind. Instead, Ed steps onto a train, off on a solitary adventure. When Ed finally declares his love, the two do not kiss or embrace. They develop their feelings slowly, while in separate rooms accomplishing more important tasks. Protagonist Edward Elric falls for Winry, the pretty blonde girl who lives next door. None of the slow build-up, the simple flirting typical of anime. In Brotherhood, there is only friendship and the jump to the deep, committed love of long-term partners. Not romantic love, as we typically know it and see it in anime. Lust acts without lust, because in Brotherhood, lust does not exist. But, after closer inspection, that isn’t the case. Perhaps Lust has gone the way of so many women, controlling her appetite instead of pursuing illicit affairs.īut why isn’t Lust lustful? Doesn’t it go beyond clichés about female characters and sexuality?Īt first glance, it appears the lack of lust in Lust symbolized the particularly evil or benign nature of the sin. She acts as Gluttony’s keeper, constantly giving him permission to consume living humans. But she typically utters only words of disdain or disinterest. Sure, she looks the part: a tiny waist, a breathy voice, breasts that defy gravity. Each homunculus, named after one the seven deadly sins, represents a sin, and each acts according to it.Įxcept for Lust. Homunculi, evil human dolls, are born when an alchemist attempts to bring a human back to life. Not wanting to be separated from his brother, Alphonse accompanies him.In the universe of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Brotherhood), trained alchemists harness their ability to destroy and recreate life in order save, kill and unleash all sorts of terrifying creations. After bonding his brother's soul to a suit of armor, Edward decides to become a military alchemist in the hopes of gaining access to knowledge that will help him and his brother get their bodies back. However, the transmutation goes horribly wrong, with Edward losing two limbs and Al losing his entire body. After losing their mother to an illness, Edward and Alphonse decide to break one of alchemy's greatest taboos and use it to bring their mother back to life. Set in a world where humans can wield incredible powers through alchemy, the series revolves around two brothers named Edward and Alphonse Elric. Laura Bailey voices the character in the English versions of both series.įullmetal Alchemist originated as a manga by Hiromu Arakawa. In comparison, Kikuko Inoue performs as Lust in Brotherhood. Yuuko Satou portrays her in the 2003 series. Like many other homunculi, she also views herself as superior to ordinary human beings and often takes a sadistic pleasure in tormenting and killing them. ![]() Serving as an assassin for her creator, Lust frequently uses her beautiful, voluptuous appearance to manipulate those who desire her. Lust is one of the artificially-created humanoids, or homunculi, created by Father, the series' primary antagonist. Lust is one of the first antagonists introduced in both the Fullmetal Alchemist manga and the original 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist anime series, which has a different plot than the manga-accurate Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime.
